She is editor of Eli’s MDS Alert and Long-Term Care Survey & Compliance Alert. She has clinical and teaching experience in a number of areas, including medical-surgical care and community health.
Rebecca Johnson has been the brains, heart and soul behind Eli’s Home Care Week for 15 years. She dove into the industry right about the time the BBA was wreaking havoc on HHA reimbursement, and has been helping HHAs thrive and stay compliant ever since. She is an expert on legislation, regulation, reimbursement, clinical protocols, business strategies, and more.
Jan Milliman, MA, HCS-D, COS-C, specializes in diagnosis coding for home health agencies, and accurate completion of the home health OASIS assessment tool. Jan has written Home Health ICD-9 Alert for five years. She also writes for OASIS Alert. She enjoys researching reader questions and connecting with industry experts to gather on-the-job insight and advice.
Jan has a bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y. and a master’s degree in Communication Theory from the State University of New York College at Brockport. She earned her Home Care Coding Specialist — Diagnosis (HCS-D) in certification in 2006 from the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and her Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) from the OASIS Certificate & Competency Board in 2010.
Mary Compton, PhD, CPC, is the editorial director for The Coding Institute. She’s responsible for the company’s international team of writers and content providers. During the past 10 years with Eli Research and The Coding Institute, Mary has directed editorial teams covering medical coding, health policy, and post-acute topics and publications in a variety of healthcare markets.
Mary is a former university lecturer in English and has an M.A. in English from The College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Mississippi. She became a Certified Professional Coder ® (CPC®) in 2004 through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
